I'm not all that fond of the "dressing up" part either. I bet it will be terrific and eventually rule them all. I knew that it was coming to a close because some of the neighbors began to say,"I think you're getting a bit old for this.". I'm telling you guys, it was one of the happiest nights of my life! Though I sure am glad I have a son, because at 28, I don't think I'd be getting much on my own these days, but I'd still try!
Just ask the police how difficult it is to identify a suspect with the description of "Jason" or "Freddie". As I type this in 2008, I am a thirty something guy with no kids,no nieces,no nephews. Strangers gave me candy just for showing up and I went to a great party, it was amazing! Among all the other reasons I wasn't supposed to celebrate them growing up, I knew that was a big negative as well. You've got something better to do the end of October? We do Giftmas instead of xmas, which involves a couple gifts for the people we love if we can find something they would enjoy on our budget, and a couple special toys.
TO REMOVE The LORD, is to remove all HOPEwhat better way to Beat Down a vast population... My solution is simple: Don't like North American traditions?
As Ameicans we IGNORE BAD LAWS inso doing we become OUTLAWS like our JESUS they tried to exterminat him, but he came back, as will we...
In the U a couple of congressmen lost their seats, and no one complied, and the government backed off. It's just different, and goes back to our roots in the Revolutionary war, vs. I wish they would ban the "door to door candy giving" aspect of Halloween. Me Christmas = kids = If your gonna ask whos crying, me or the kids... Anyways since this is holloween topic ill post 6 devils for the poor hot morman chicks who were lead to belive that its the devils holiday and will never enjoy group sex or the thought of whats gonna happen to her when she goes to HELL. Another thing too..do all these other religions get they're own holidays and Satanists don't? Satan's Day or something..only thing we got remotely close to a holiday is Halloween. Here we go. all know that there are some people that feel depressed around the holiday season. No more annoying TV ads that sound like the music for them was composed by Danny Elfman. Especially when I was old enough to go out with my older brother. I can understand some parents being worried, what with all the Amber alerts and weirdos out there. If you are one of those people that take your kid to the local shopping mall to trick or treat, you are really robbing them of some wonderful memories. I am currently without transportation so even if I wanted to go out and see.I don't know...definitely not one of the SAW movies, I couldn't. I hope they don't show the one where Sally Field(her voice anyway)plays the part of some nut that almost makes Bobby miss Halloween because he's led to believe that it is evil. I didn't go out for Halloween until I was 16 years old, after being booted out of my parents house for not going to church.
I'm sitting in the dark of my house right now, as all the little dressed up kiddies walk past my house. There is something seriously wrong with a tradition when the parents feel compelled to list the addresses of all the local sex offenders - in order to avoid THEIR houses. There should be a super holiday, which is all of them combined. The holiday that always(well with in the last several years anyway)made me feel a little down is Halloween. Without any parental supervision,we would walk around in the dark for at least a half hour and knock on strangers doors. I think the last time I went trick or treating was 1985 when I was 15. My parents only got 15 or so kids coming to the door. God willing one day I will have kids of my own and I intend on taking them out around the neighbor hood(on foot)every Halloween til they too are told "..you're getting too old for this"or they lose interest. I was living in a boarding house with no money, so I dressed in green and drew leaves on myself with eye liner, and went as a plant. Don't you wish you could still be pleased on a pillowcase full of sugar?
So I went out and purchased a beginners kit of Stockpiling food/water for my son that lives in the country on a gravel road. Speaking from the perspective of someone who used to be part of a group that would be considered a minority when it comes to holidays. In the end, isn't that what political correction is? Since when was the comfort of one more important than the comfort of many others? I believe halloween was once called "The Day of the Dead" because christians prayed for the dead.
He was so impressed, he is now taking an active interest towards the "survivalist" movement. Unless someone's life is in danger, it's just an attention seeking abuse of power. Halloween is a Pagan holiday - I've never seen a Wiccan speak out against it. To me Halloween should be more than getting candy and scaring people, it should also celebrate the fall season.
The size of the sample then required, however, was ~500cm, which would clearly have resulted in an unacceptable amount of damage, and it was not until the development in the 1970s of small gas-counters and accelerator-mass-spectrometry techniques (AMS), requiring samples of only a few square centimetres, that radiocarbon dating of the shroud became a real possibility.
The shroud was separated from the backing cloth along its bottom left-hand edge and a strip (~10 mm x 70 mm) was cut from just above the place where a sample was previously removed in 1973 for examination.
To confirm the feasibility of dating the shroud by these methods an intercomparison, involving four AMS and two small gas-counter radiocarbon laboratories and the dating of three known-age textile samples, was coordinated by the British Museum in 1983.

As Controls, three samples whose ages had been determined independently were also dated.
Otherwise im moving to antartica and building an ice castle. ...carve a few spikes in them too Just goes to show the cultural difference between Canadians and Americans. Tonight, TV Land was showing NATIONAL LAMPOONS VACATION. It was the Halloween episode of Reno 911 I had already seen 3 or 4 times. Alright, not to go all oliver twist on you guys, but growing up a JW, I celebrated NOTHING.
