I use the term “Solo Mom” because our site serves women who parent alone, by choice or by circumstance, for a variety of reasons, such as divorce or the death, incarceration or deployment of a partner.

I’m astounded by the resilience and fortitude of the single mom community.
But a decade later, after remarriage, three more children, and a move to the fabulous Hudson Valley, I’m finally able to pursue my passion: advocating on behalf of hard-working single mothers, who are raising 23 million American children.
After my team and I conducted focus groups, gathered more than 5,000 resources, and hired Solo Mom freelancers to work as guides and writers, launched in July 2015.
It’s a no-cost, confidential community where no real names are used to give Solo Moms the privacy they need to share and ask personal questions without fear of disclosure.
